The Friday Night League has started

The eagerly awaited Friday night league started on the 7th November, which initially saw our two under 10 mixed teams in action along with the U14 boys team. DJHC is very pleased to have been able to enter 7 teams this year into the league. We are also actively involved with the co-ordination as part of the Plymouth Hockey Development Group

The full league can be downloaded from the downloads area of this web site. There are also cut down DJHC only versions, designed to be printed on 1 double sided A4 sheet or 2 double sided A4 sheets

And as a gentle reminder - the Friday night games do cost £2 per hour of games - this is purely to cover the costs of booking the pitches - all coaching/management time etc is completely voluntary. But the biggest reminder - please ensure that all players have a drink with them, and a warm coat (waterproof), which to avoid confusion should not be a dark green (the colour of the DJHC shirts). Also, labelling of clothes and equipment is highly recommended - the clubs lost and found storage location is beginning to buldge!

One of the club's coaches raised £140 for the club as part of her birthday party! Thank you Joanne. She has asked that this be used for the club's end of season celebration.

 

Sunday morning sessions

The club has now been in full swing for 9 weeks, and we are still regularly hitting the high 45 - 55 players attending the Sunday sessions. Even two Sundays ago where we had dreadful rain, 35 still turned up! Just as a reminder, if anyone wants any printed copies of the 2008 club poster, then contact Robin or download a version from this website. This is also being distributed to the schools in the catchment area. We are always looking for more players, especially U14 (school years 8 & 9) girls and U12 boys (school years 6 & 7). There is no need to book for our Sunday sessions, just come along - the first two sessions are free for new members to the club and we provide sticks and balls, you just need suitable trainers or astro boots, normal sports clothing and shin pads. We always also recommend gum shields.

Under 16 boys tournament

The U16 team had a stunning time at the U16 tournament, not losing any games and coming second on the day. This will mean that in the next parts of the tournament they have moved up a level. Well done lads!

 

England Hockey Followers Membership

For those who want to receive additional information, discounts and memorabilia from the heart of England Hockey, a new hockey "followers" membership scheme has been launched. This is not part of the DJHC, but if you do wish to join up please quote our club id '1923' as the club is given a £50 Barrington Sports voucher for hockey kit for every 10 people it signs up.

Promoting Hockey

We have been actively involved in the local schools in supporting the Plymouth Hockey Development Group's "Hooked on Hockey" campaign, providing loan equipment to two of these schools to ensure the enjoyment and safety for the school team players.

14/3/2008 - update cancellation of tournament and threfore the return of the training day. Added date for final Hooked on hockey academy. Added U18 vs U16 and U16 vs U14 'freindly' matches

2/2/2008 - various updates on the front page and a correction to the dates for the girls tournament. New DJHC Jan - April 2008 guide and full (all clubs) League handbook downloads added to site. Still woefully behind on the results pages having had a couple of difficulties getting in the results!

2/1/2008 - updated dates with draft U14/U12&U10 league dates. Still to finalise scores from last boys games and therefore not updated the final scores.
